Vliesofix bondaweb 90cmx100cm piece
Bondaweb is a brand of fusible web, which is an interfacing that works like double sided tape and is perfect for hand or machine appliqué or temporarily attaching one piece of fabric to another. It has a paper backing which you can draw a shape on if you want to then press to your fabric and cut round the shape. You then remove the paper to press the shape to your background fabric. For a more permanent fix, stitch it on by hand or machine.
If we recommend or suggest that you use Bondaweb when making our projects, it will be listed in the You Will Also Need section of the kitÂ
How to use bondaweb
- Place the Bondaweb, paper side-up, onto the wrong side of the fabric you want to attach and press into place. Try to make sure the Bondaweb is a little smaller than the fabric or it will stick to your ironing board. If you can’t do this then use a silicone mat beneath the fabric to protect your ironing board.
- Place a spare piece of cotton fabric on top of the Bondaweb and press on top for about five seconds using a medium heat and NO steam.
- Leave the Bondaweb and fabric to go completely cold which will allow the glue to set.
- Remove the paper backing from the Bondaweb then your fabric can now be placed RS up on top of the fabric and in the position you want to attach it to.Â
- Place a damp cloth (like a tea towel) over the fabric and press your iron on top of it. Hold the iron in place for 10 to 15 seconds.
- Leave the fabric to cool and your fabrics will be stuck together.Â
- This isn’t a guaranteed permanent fix so machine or hand stitch in place to secure.
